Arsenal Contemporary

Two plywood boxes are inserted into the existing space; one as an open central office, the other as a private viewing gallery and back-of-house. These elements demarcate the two well-proportioned main exhibition spaces; a smaller gallery on entry and larger gallery in the middle.

The large office table is intended to initiate conversation between visitors and gallery staff. The gallery walls are lifted from ground and dropped from the ceiling to reveal existing enclosure, thus creating dialogue between existing envelope and white gallery walls. Photos by Charles Benton
